The Mural is Up
Walk down 23rd in front of the museum and check it out. Eddie depicted the photographs that the Colman neighbors contributed to the project.

This blog is to discuss and to share resources for our neighborhood mural project, which is being organized by the Colman Neighborhood Association. The mural is based on the histories of the people who have lived, struggled and celebrated life here. It is being created by Seattle's Colman/Judkins neighbors. The mural is made possible through a Strong Neighborhoods Action Program grant from the Northwest Insurance Council and the contributions of labor, space and materials by the community.

Summer 2007
Interviews with neighbors in the Colman/Judkins neighborhoods.
Friday, August 21
meet with Black Heritage Society archivist/historian Jacqueline Lawson to look at images and artifacts.
Fridays, September 7 and 14
Interviews at the Central Area Senior Center.
Friday, September 14
Interviews at Nikkei Manor.
Saturday September 15
Meeting with the artist to deliver interviews and archival materials.
Friday, September 27
Meeting with artist to go over general narrative themes and mural concepts.
Tuesday October 2
Community meeting at 6pm in the Central Area Senior Center, 500 30th Ave S. Artist presents initial design to the community for feedback.
Tuesday October 16
Community meeting at 6pm in the Douglas Truth Library community room. Final design presented for feedback and further research needs.

Final Sketches presented

Production begins.
